서울시민의 일상으로 자리 잡은 한강에 어선이 찾아온다. 어선은 한강의 일상에 어떤 다양성과 즐거움을 가져올까? 3대의 어선이 한강공원에 던지는 이야기가 시작된다.
남해호, 경동호, 해춘호
전라남도 고흥 앞바다에서 활동하던 이 배들은 현재는 폐어선이 된 이름들이다. 이들은 자동찻길을 달려 송도에 와서, 그곳에서 몇 개월을 기다리다가, 올봄 한강시민공원에 자리를 잡는다.
물과 넓은 공간이 있는 땅. 서울이라는 대도시의 일상 속에서 자연을 느낄 수 있는 유일한 공간, 한강. 어선들은 이곳을 찾은 시민들에게 쉼과 다양함이 가득한 공간이 되어가는 길을 연다.
이야기 하나, ‘바다바람’은 ‘남해호’를 통해 보이지 않지만 존재하는 것을 상상하는 이야기에서 시작되었다. 바다에서 땅까지 오는 여정을 느끼게 해주고, 보이지 않는 바람을 느끼게 해주고자 한다.
바람을 담아낸 시각화한 조각들이 펼쳐진 천정면은 바람에 따라 일렁이는 그늘막이 되어준다.
그 아래에 앉거나, 누워 일렁이는 푸른 그늘 아래서 바람이 만들어 준 물결을 상상할 수 있다. 남해호의 선실에서는 어선과 장소의 이야기를 촬영한 작업을 볼 수 있다.
우리가 겪는 소소한, 혹은 엄청난 이야기들을 푸른 그늘에 앉아서, 즐기며, 그런 시간들이 쌓이는 장소가 된다.
이야기 둘, ‘SWITCH’의 ‘경동호’는 한강을 배경으로 변화라는 개념을 보여주고자 했다. 한강은 항상 같아보여도, 다양한 변화를 감당하고 있다. 변화하는 사계절과 시시각각 바뀌는 수위 등의 외부적인 환경과 한강을 찾는 시민들의 변화의 매개체로써 한강에 나타나고, 풍경과 시선에 새로운 변화를 바란다.
이야기 셋, ‘해춘’은 ‘해춘호’를 통해 한강에 존재하는 자연스러운 장소를 재발견하는 이야기를 담았다. 해춘호가 처음으로 찾은 장소는 작은 둔덕으로 이루어진 민속마당 옆이다. 이곳에서 해춘호는 무대가 되어, 땅에 정박한다. 물고기를 담던 창고는 땅의 생명을 담는 그릇으로 쓰임새를 달리한다. 벚나무 꽃잎이 흩날리는 ‘해춘’ 무대 위에서 누군가가 읽어주는 글을 들으며, 구릉에 앉거나 누워있는 시간을 기대한다. 우리의 봄을 기대한다.
우리에게 한강이란 무엇일까?
있는 그대로의 한강에 서있거나,
혹은 한강에 펼쳐지는 작은 예술작업들을 보았을 때,
우리는 어떤 생각과 상상력을 펼칠 수 있을까?
우리의 한강은 우리 도시의 역사를 그대로 보여준다. 여러 가지 이유로 사람에 의해 콘크리트화 되기도 했고, 이제는 부분적으로 자연호안으로 바뀌고 있기도 하다. 직접적인 산업동력의 토대가 되기도 했고, 이제는 시민들에게 쉼의 동력이 되기도 한다. 홍수로 물에 잠기기도 하고, 축제들로 가득차기도 한다.
어선이라는 낯선 재료가 쉼을 더 풍부하게 해주는 작업에 쓰이면서, 공간을 더 의미있게 만드는 과정은 시민들의 영역으로 남는다. 그 과정을 통해, 보이지 않던 이야기들이 보이게 되기를 바란다. 이러한 상상을 통해 한강에 대한 다양한 물음들, 생각들이 장소에 남겨진다.

CONCEPT
Three fishing vessels will be around our everyday life at the Han River. We are excited to see how much diversity and joy they may bring to our lives. Now, their story begins.
Namhae-ho, Gyeongdong-ho, Haechoon-ho.
These are the names of three obsolete fishing vessels which were actively used to fish in the southern sea of Goheung, Jeolanam-do, Korea. After the road trip to Songdo International Business District located at the western coast of Korea and waiting for months, they finally settled down at Han River Art Park in this spring.
Han River Art Park is a public park where Han River runs by, and possibly the only huge spacious area where we can still enjoy the nature in Seoul Metropolitan City. The Three fishing vessels will offer us a place full of rest and variety.
The project “Blue Wind” started with Namhae-ho which depicts a tale that is invisible but still existing. This story leads us to feel the invisible breeze and its journey from the far-away sea to the park.
As the wind blows, the blue ceiling with thousands pieces will become a storyteller and provide a waving canopy with a fantastic view.
Under the waving blue canopy, our imagination will be easily growing with the wave by breezing wind. Inside the cabin of Namhae-ho, we can also enjoy watching a story of the vessel and the site.
It will not be a concern whether our own story is big or small. All we need to do under the blue shade is enjoy the moment and piling happy memories.
Gyeongdong-ho is now reborn as “SWITCH” that presents a change of the region around Han River. The River has been flowing for countless years and many changes have occurred throughout this period of time. “SWITCH” will also present to us a change of each season, of water level by time to time, and of many other joys from the transformation of scenery to our everyday life. We expect “SWITCH” to be the representative of the change.
The last tale starts with the name of “Hae Choon” which means “Sea of Spring”. This project embraces the story of rediscovery of the place already existing. Haechoon-ho was anchored at small mounds. Here, it will reborn as a stage, and its storage will become a big pot to bear a life of the earth. As the petals from the cherry blossom tree scatters, a new stage will open. We hope the public will enjoy themselves on the small mounds whilst listening to someone read poems or play music.
What does Han River mean to us? While we visit Han River or watch exhibitions or performances at the park, how far can our imagination be expanded?
Han River has enabled us to learn of the city's history and tales. For various reasons, it has been covered by concrete, and now it is partially changing to be a nature-friendly area. The site was the foundation for Seoul and Korea's industrial development; today, it serves as a popular spot for recreation for both locals and visitors.
With the Three Fishing Vessels and their respected installations, we hope to bring to light their stories and, from this, further enrich the people's everyday life. By this imagination, the park will give us more various questions and thoughts about the River.
